Which patients might benefit from a dual chamber pacemaker?

A dual chamber pacemaker can provide significant benefits for patients with complete heart block. In complete heart block, the electrical signals that control the heartbeat are completely obstructed, leading to a lack of coordination between the atria and ventricles. A dual chamber pacemaker addresses this issue by ensuring that both the atria and ventricles are stimulated in a coordinated manner, thus improving the efficiency of the heart's pumping action and maintaining proper heart rhythm and rate.

In contrast, while chronic atrial fibrillation may lead to irregular heartbeats, it does not typically require a dual chamber pacemaker unless there is also a significant bradycardia or another underlying conduction disorder present.
